I call them "Clasp Charms", usually medium to large sized jewelry clasps with a bail. These are wonderful little pieces of hardware that every jewelry lover will find becomes a workhorse in their wardrobe. The "clasp charms" are often saved clasps, which have been removed from jewelry headed to the melter. Sometimes they still have links or loops attached, but if not I have large bails soldered to them.
Once there's a nice big bail attached their possible uses are only limited to your imagination. The more you play the more you will discover. Here are a few how-to options to get your imagination going:
A Charm Holder - Obvious, but a favorite because it makes changing out your charm stack so much easier than having to re-string a new set of charms when you are ready for a change.
A Lariat - One of my favorite ways to change up the geometry of a necklace. Sometimes a chain can lariat on its own, but a clasp charm will broaden the options and create a more finished look. It also allows your lariat to also have the convenience of an easy to change charm holder.
A Body Chain - A fun option especially for summertime. If you own some longer chains this is another way to get another look besides just doubling you chain. If you do not have longer length chains, clipping multiple chains together will work just as well.
